Two Chelsea players, one Chelsea legend set to be best dressed at World Cup

Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr wasn’t in a hurry to announce his 23-man World Cup squad.
Apparently he wanted to wait until after Saturday’s friendly with England, although it’s hard to see why since the players he finally cut didn’t even play.
On Sunday Rohr announced that one Chelsea man is being sent home, while two more have made his squad and one old boy keeps his place for his second (and final?) run on the world stage.
Ola Aina drew the short straw. Although the 21 year-old fullback/wingback played a healthy 46 matches (44 starts) and logged over four-thousand minutes for Hull City this season, more than any other Chelsea loanee, he was one of two players cut. This despite the squad having 19 newcomers.
The two Chelsea players who made it were Victor Moses, who’s playing in his old-old position of inverted left wing for the Super Eagles, and center back Kenneth Omeruo, who can’t crack the Chelsea squad. Moses had himself a highlight moment against England and Harry Kane, despite being on the losing end of a 2-1 scoreline.
Omeruo, who’s 24 with two years left on his contract, spent the season with Turkish club Kasimpasa, for whom he made 28 appearances. It was his sixth loan spell since joining Chelsea in 2012 and at this point, he couldn’t be blamed for looking for the exit.
The Chelsea old boy legend who’ll be representing Nigeria is Mikel John Obi, the team’s captain. At 31, this will be his second (and maybe his last) World Cup.
It’ll be nice to have a reason to cheer for the Super Eagles. And you never know, if things break well for Omeruo and he has a stellar tournament, maybe clubs will try to sign him to a permanent contract and he can retire from the loan army. The World Cup is the perfect opportunity for him to showcase his talent, especially as Nigeria will be easily the best dressed team out there in Russia.
