There is a lot of worry around Chelsea fans that Eden
Hazard might get his head turned and that he could leave the club this summer.
Six years ago last Monday the Belgian
joined from Lille and ever since has been one of the starring men for the Blues
over that time, and once again showed in the FA Cup final win over Manchester
United his real worth with the penalty win and netting the spot-kick.
However, Hazard is now 27
years old and faces the prospect of not playing Champions League football next
season after Chelsea failed to get into the top four of the Premier League.
That has left many Chelsea fans worried about the
prospect of losing Hazard with Real Madrid having been the main club sniffing
around the Belgian with a potential signing.
The other worry is the manager
situation and the two areas could well be interlinked when it comes to Hazard
staying at the Blues. Last season, Hazard was critical of the way that Chelsea
played against Manchester City as Antonio Conte used him as the main
striker and he hardly had a sniff in the whole game.
Conte's defensive tactics sometimes didn't get the best
out of his talisman and the worry for some is that if Conte does see out the
last year of his contract then Hazard might not be willing to stick around.
The Belgian has two years left on his
current contract, but there is one man that Chelsea could employ to guarantee
that Hazard signs a new contract with the club.
Zinedine Zidane shocked everyone when
he decided to quit Real Madrid last week having guided them to their third
Champions League win in a row
That means the France legend is a free agent and will no
doubt want to be snapped up by a club somewhere, while Chelsea are looking for
a way to replace Conte as well.
At the moment, names such as Laurent Blanc,
Maurizio Sarri and Luis Enrique have emerged as front runners, while Zidane has
been rarely linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
However, such is Hazard's adoration for the
World Cup winner that if Zidane did become the new head coach of the Blues that
there would be a massive chance Hazard would sign a new deal.
The adoration certainly goes the other way as
well. "After Messi and Ronaldo, Hazard is my favourite player. It is
spectacular to see him play," Zidane said back in 2015.
"Do I see him going to Real Madrid? I love the
player, that's all I will say."
In fact, it has been reported that
Zidane fell out with Madrid president Florentino Perez over the chief's
unwillingness to pursue Hazard and Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
There is a massive summer of
uncertainty around Chelsea at the moment and Hazard's future, along with that
of Thibaut Courtois, is one of the pressing matters
Signing Zidane would surely keep Hazard, but at the moment
that seems to be a little way off from happening with Blanc now the number one
candidate to take over from Conte.
